To encourage viewer interaction, August starts a new layer to The Marketing Mirror as an Audio Event on LinkedIn.
Producing the show LIVE allows you to share thoughts, ask questions, or interact with The Marketing Mirror, Sue-Ann, and guest co-hosts on topics for businesses, marketers, and content creators.
But there’s more reasoning behind this strategy adjustment, so here’s the scoop.
First, several folks are urging me to do more LIVE, livestreaming in particular, but if you know me… well, you know.
But the most important component of LIVE broadcasting is that it opens the door for engagement and interaction with your show. This new LinkedIn Audios on Wednesday plan is my not-quite-ready-to-commit as a regular livestreaming video show while offering new interactivity and producing more podcasts.
I love collaborating with so many people so this is a natural way to continue to develop, build, and strengthen business relationships. And also to learn from the diverse input and perspectives of others by sharing conversations, ideas, and insights.
Of course, my Manifesto remains “Respect Everyone.”
LinkedIn Audio Events for Interactive Possibilities
My conclusion (with a little help from a friend or three) is I can commit to audio as an absolute to-do (fingers-crossed) production to serve my audience and strategy well. The first bonus, however, is how audio content makes it easy for others to engage comfortably and makes it easier to produce and schedule content more consistently for the podcast.
I’m not saying I won’t slip in a video LIVEstreaming component as things go along. I don’t mind trying to improve with LIVE productions at all. Still, the “audio event” part also has to do with using the LinkedIn social platform in a more productive and visible way.
Meanwhile, to continue to learn how to level up The Marketing Mirror’s Video Version Podcasts, I’m pushing myself to improve, at least incrementally, with each video show. My last video, for example, was an exercise to expand my video creation capabilities by testing and then embracing a new video creation and editing software, Create Studio.
Further, the video is an affiliate-associated content piece and something newer I’m finally working on within the current content strategy.
Also, in this video and others going forward, concentrating on storytelling is a goal and necessity, too.
Side Note: Telling stories to touch emotions is very conducive to audio format, but it’s perhaps even more fascinating on the video side and something I’m exploring much more closely.
But by adding more audio content into my media mix, there’s a double benefit.
- More Spotify audio podcast episodes published more consistently.
- More precious time to produce better and more valuable video content on the YouTube Channel.
Maybe you noticed an attempt at this in my Castmagic video showcasing content repurposing. Castmagic is another affiliate partnership for a powerful AI tool for audio/video creators, coaches, and businesses.
Iterating is Practice
Maybe my goal to invite and include viewer interaction by doing LinkedIn LIVE Audio Events (weekly podcasts) while gaining visibility to gain new clients from the platform will work. On the other hand, it may fail miserably. Already, a few people are sure LinkedIn Audio for a LIVE is no way to gain traction or business.
However, what if starting with little to no audience gives some time to practice and perfect LinkedIn Audio Productions? I’m sure like anything, it takes time to grow. Still, it’s also accomplishing a few other things like
- helping to get more visible on LinkedIn,
- reaching new people, and
- practicing a more consistent publishing schedule for Spotify podcast episodes.
Oh, and most importantly for me, taking some of the pressure off for a more consistent video publishing schedule, at least until I perfect and improve my videos. (I work on this everyday, btw. 😉)
But, the other big hurdle for LinkedIn Audio Events I keep hearing is also a crucial consideration. And therefore, part of the experiment as well.
LinkedIn does NOT record or replay your audio event so it’s a one-and-done on the channel, killing your LIVE Audio Event for a podcast or any other desired repurposing uses.
We all know that just won’t do. So, I’m going to be testing a workaround and so far the best suggestion is to try a software to download to my Windows, called iTop, for recording LinkedIn Audio Events. We’ll find out if this will or won’t be a usable solution.
I’m even planning a pre-launch date event as a test run! If the audio capture is not at the quality level or the software isn’t easy/versatile enough to use, this idea may be a FAIL before it even starts!
Contingency Plans Allow for Evolution
For this one, it’s easy. I don’t even have to change the strategy at all. I can simply carry out the same audio-first, but LIVE so you can participate in the weekly podcast, on X (Twitter).
Spaces are already recordable through the lovely ZealousApp. And since my Twitter is already hooked up with Zealous, it automatically records any Spaces Audio Events I host or talk on as a guest! I’ve repurposed audio events from X before, like this chat with Lisa Sicard about the future of blogging.
So, although I’m pre-promoting now by talking about my new layer for The Marketing Mirror Podcast starting on August 7, 2024, with Special Guest Co-Host, Joie Gharrity, I can always alter the plan if recording the audio isn’t good enough. And, I can simply move the experiment and test another platform (x/Twitter) I already know I get recordings from easily.
If I can’t find listeners on LinkedIn Audio or get engagement (after a trial period), I can move to my larger Twitter audience to see if interactivity improves. And perhaps, as I mentioned earlier, maybe Video Livestreaming is an option or possible future iteration as things evolve.
One thing for sure is that there are tons of topics worth conversation and I look forward to bringing them to you. I hope you’ll stop to listen in and add your perspective. (Have any topic requests?)
An Invitation to Attend the Premiere Event
The premiere date where Joie and I are planning to chat, not conduct an interview, is slated for 2:00 p.m., EDT on Wednesday, August 7th. The topic is timely and interesting and perspectives vary widely. So I hope you’ll join us when we unravel a biggie, The Shifting Foundations of Social Media.
Look for more details soon on what we’re covering, or uncovering so your Social Media Marketing is fired up and ready for the challenges of a New Age in Digital Social. One thing we’ll discover is if LinkedIn Audio gives us a good interactive social platform. See you there?
