Let’s Talk Twitter…
Because if you read my last post, you know I love Twitter!
And, more importantly for you, Twitter is a free business building tool and fun social platform at the same time. Newsworthy in providing content LIVE, Twitter is a part of people’s lives in different ways that matter.
If you missed the post, this video will give you a quick synopsis. Besides, as you know, I’m also a fan of content repurposing. This is a perfect example of just that so, enjoy:
Creating this video with Lumen5 software was pretty much easy peasy so you may want to try it out for your projects, too.
Lumen5 lets you import an entire blog article by using the URL and automatically creates a video for you using visuals they deem appropriate. But, in the above video, I used only one visual (the first) from the software offerings, allowing me to customize the visuals by uploading my own creations, plus showing text copy as an added bonus.
While I picked a music background from the software for this one, you also have the option of adding unique audio files if you prefer. I’m wondering since for now, they don’t have voiceover capabilities if you can use your own audio files, even if they are voice recordings? Hmm. I think this sounds like a next experiment!
This is the Slide Deck used to create the above video:
Aha. Yet another way of repurposing the initial post to find new website traffic to (hopefully) visit because, you know, viewers want more of the goodies the SlideShare introduces.
(If you want to know, this presentation was created with PowerPoint. I’m only now understanding and taking advantage of a lot of the features that make it a good choice, right now.)
Twitter Treats Keep it Sweet
Twitter is in constant motion right now and it seems their latest moves are for the benefit of users. I’m not excited about bots for followers so I’m with you on necessary changes, Twitter, especially after hearing of “influencers” and others gaming their social status with fake followers and bot interactions for faking more stats.
But, since I’m trying to level up my Twitter game, I’m finding more information you may find useful, too.
For example:
- Twitter marketing is a “thing” so try it out for your business.
- Do your tweets “detract from the conversation” on Twitter and will they measure up to the new algorithm?
- This is an interesting story about how far your Twitter interaction may go. Wow!
- How about Twitter’s plans to debut new shows focusing on activism, entertainment, and sports? NBCUniversal sponsors some of these shows so, there’s a surprising twist to Twitter, folks:)
- Even Disney is set to create LIVE content according to a new deal with Twitter.
Twitter has changed the time limit for videos from 30 seconds to 140 seconds. So now, you can add video marketing or video content to your Twitter feed for more interaction. GIFS are Twitter-licious too! People love visuals, plain and simple.
Twitter is for talking...but, powerful visuals bring more engagement...yep, even on #twitter!Click To TweetLet’s Talk Twitter More…
It’s true. Video production isn’t optional anymore so, start testing it out—and look for my Let’s Talk Twitter video to fly out to you via my Twitter stream. lol
Still feeling shy about any kind of video? Well, start like I am with visuals that don’t include me until you feel more comfortable.
If you don’t want to take my word for it, take a look at what Gail Gardner points out in this post for SmallBizTrends about the use of video marketing. The stats she gives you are a wake-up call, alone.
Sharing podcasts on Twitter is also a way to offer more engaging content and for me, podcasting is another way to get comfortable putting yourself out there.
I can’t tell you how scared and unsure I was about participating in Twitter in the first place but, I truly enjoy it now. Who knows, maybe making videos is something we can get comfortable with as well. With practice, of course.
Since it’s the weekend, I’ll keep this post short and say, enjoy yours!
But, let me ask you if you are 1.) having any success with Twitter for your business and 2.) doing videos yet as part of your content marketing and media mix? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for stopping:)

Hi Sue-Ann!
Twitter is my favorite platform too. Lately I haven’t had time to get to my Twitter accounts but today I’ve been catching up with my tweeps. ๐
I’m trying to step up my Twitter game too – the resources you shared here will help me out as well!
I’m not comfortable putting myself in videos either so I will definitely be signing up to get the Lumen5 software. I love your video! And thanks for sharing Gail’s article – I’m going to read it after I post my comment. ๐

Cori:
What an awesome surprise to have you visit and comment…thanks so much!
I feel like I work hardest on Twitter, social media wise but, truly, find nice interactions for business, collaboration, and even friendships are happening for me there.
I love that we’re connected there and via the awesome Lisa, too:) Thank you, again, for popping in, sharing, and commenting. I truly appreciate your time:)
Take care,
Sue-Ann
Hi Sue-Ann,
Twitter is my #1 social media marketing platform. It truly has been good to me. However, as Ryan pointed out, the noise abound so one needs to create and share valuable content to maintain a strong brand visibility on the platform. That is where visuals like video content come in. Videos are among the best visual content type that generates the most engagement and traffic. Why? Because people easily relate to images. Humans digest and retain visual information over 300% more than text content. So you did an amazing job highlighting the need for videos on Twitter.
Thank you for sharing.
Hey Moss:
I guess since I love the written word, (and maybe being less visible, personally) it’s taking me a minute to embrace video content or produce much. One thing I’m finding for sure, video content that’s strong usually starts with powerful writing. When I start to understand and embrace that, as I am now, producing videos seems both doable and more exciting to me!
Visuals are something I’ve always tried to use and deem important from day one. The thing is, I feel like I’m doing those much better, too, as I learn and grow. The other thing, Moss, is visuals are easy to use in more than one format so I’m hoping to showcase that with this post. Just a little strategic thinking goes a long way in content:)
Thanks for taking time to check this one out and comment, Moss. I’ve run into some nice work by you out there lately so keep up the great stuff.
Take care,
Sue-Ann
I see how video and images on Twitter boost engagement Sue-Ann. Chatting is key. Gotta engage. But beyond talking to humans 1 to 1, you need some eye-candy to take things to the next level. Mainly because so much noise abounds on the network. Talk, and gussy up chats with images, to rock out this platform.
Ryan
Ryan:
I have the chatting part down, Ryan! lol So, trying out some other great techniques for the extra eye-candy appeal to go along with it! The part I truly love is talking to like-minded people and learning in the exchanges, as well. Twitter has taken me down some interesting roads so far, benefiting me on a personal and business level, so I want to keep leveling up to do even better.
Did I mention how much I appreciate you stopping in, sharing my stuff, and your kind comments, too? Hope so!!
Thank you again,
Sue-Ann
